Rooney threatened to leave United in October 2010 because the club "lacked ambition," then signed a new contract a week later after Ferguson bought his bluff. 2010-11 in this red kit: 16 goals, overhead kicks against City, winning the Premier League, getting destroyed 3-1 by Barcelona in the Champions League final. Rooney was brilliant. United were champions. Barcelona made them look like amateurs at Wembley and everyone knew the era was ending. Rooney stayed at United for another seven years, won one more title, and watched the club fall apart after Ferguson retired. This shirt is from the season Rooney almost left, stayed, and probably should've left anyway.
