Scored against USA in the quarterfinals, scored against South Korea in the semis, dragged Germany to the final when nobody saw it coming. Then the tragedy—yellow card against South Korea, suspended for the final. Ballack got Germany there but couldn't play in it. Watched from the stands as Brazil and Ronaldo destroyed Germany 2-0 in Yokohama. The white kit witnessed brilliance and heartbreak in equal measure.
